Survivors and Flashbacks
I know many times many survivors struggle with the flashbacks of the disaster. Reliving is one thing but struggling to get through the hurdles is another. Flashbackes, yes, will be there at the beginning but there are times when the struggles threaten our day. Remember to jump past each hurdle we need too look to God. He is the ultimate healer.
Please remember the month the disaster strikes or even happens it will be hard in the months ahead. To jump over them it means facing the fears. It means fighting the flashbacks with the Word of God. God’s Word is true, infalliable, and it never changes. It will remain the same no matter what. God’s Word is another tool to fight the enemy.
For our enemy is prowling around like a lion waiting to devour us who are not ready in arms. Therefore – even as tired as we are as survivors we need to be ready for battle. Yes, I know many will say “I can’t do it, I’m too tired.” The tiredness comes from the emotional stress of what you have been through, but we need to be prepared to go to battle no matter what.
Even when we are tired, the Lord will come before you and behind you to fight for you. He knows that we are tired and that we have very little strength but he will become our strength in times of struggle.
Flashbacks are our natural response to what we have been through yet when we go through these struggles there is always someone present in our lives to go through them battling them with us. Jesus.
