Choose Five Minute Friday

Today is Five Minute Friday @ Lisa Jo Baker (www.lisajobaker.com) where many bloggers join together to write on one topic for five minutes and then we get to visit other blogs on the same topic.

Today’s Prompt is: Choose

 Now Go!

Choose

Choose. What to choose what to choose many of us wonder. Yet there is one thing that is much more important than choosing things of this world. This is to Worship God. We choose Him over the world when we serve him and honor him. Choose is actually mentioned 71 times in the NIV of the Bible. Yet they each will be different. Some are in stories, some are direct application to our life.

I cannot help but think of what Joshua challenged the people in Joshua 24 about choosing whom to serve. Whether the god’s of Egypt or the God himself. Yet we all know what happened. They chose to choose the other gods. The gods who are nothing but clay but yet there were some who choose to serve God Himself.

It gets me back to thinking. What will we choose to serve? choose to serve ourselves or others. We choose our spouses but not our families. We choose where we live in the States but not the disasters that hit that area of the country. We choose our children’s names but not their gender. We choose where we go to church. Yet do we really choose who we worship or do we just do it for the looks not the heart worship.

Choose. Do you choose to help the survivors after a disaster or do you choose it to show what you did in the summer? Are you willing to choose (stop) what God wants you to do than what the world wants you to do? What will you choose?

Joshua 24:15 (NIV)

15 But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”

What will you choose today?

Life with a God who made you or the world and all its trappings?

Choosing friends above family?

Choosing to think of self instead of honoring someone else?

What will you choose?
