Red — In Depth Thoughts

Red, was the writing prompt/topic for Lisa Jo Baker’s five minute friday. To a doctor it is a reminder of blood, to teacher’s it is a color but to the Christian it is the blood that Jesus shed on the cross for our sin. He chose to take our sins upon him to be sin so that we can be covered by His blood.
We are covered by the blood of Jesus, it was his sacrifice of a lamb with no blemish or defect (1 Peter 1:19). Jesus who was perfect — the one and only who could die to save us. Jesus entered the Most Holy Place only once not several times — by his own blood– which has made way for eternal redemption (Hebrews 9:12).
This world teaches that we can we can go our own way to god, but there are many gods. They want us to have works. They want us to go from point A to point B and so forth. The world wants us to think we can make it on our own but the One True God says that is not the way to Him.
There is a story that I remember being told when I went to youth group and it goes like this:
There was once 3 brothers who went on a journey. They travelled far away from home. Then the three brothers were lost, and walked and waited for their daddy. Yet there were three decisions that were made.
One brother decided to leave to go and find the pathway to his father.
The second brother decided to pave a path home by working back torwards his daddy’s goodness.
The third brother decided to wait for his father. He knew that his father would find him. He knew works (the brother paving bricks to daddy) didn’t work nor the many paths to the Father.
The world believes that works and that there are many ways to God, but this is not true. There is only one way to the Father. This is through the Lord Jesus Christ. He is our Mediator. There is no paths to God except through Jesus God’s only begotten Son. He is the one who died to save you. He is the ultimate perfect sacrifice. He gave his life to pay the debt we couldn’t pay.
This world may think it has so much to offer us, but this is so not true. The world cannot come close to filling our hearts let alone what we truly desire. The world offers us just wood and tinder that will just burn up when tested for our works in front of our Father. Cars, money, jewelry, gold, swimming pools, in other words all the big items we think our are impotant but actually are not important. They are just earthly items.
The tornadoes the past several years are a testimony to the fact that the things of this world are not important but your family is impotant. The tornadoes yes are very destructive and yet they point to God in all he had made. I know this first hand because because my family is a family of survivors. God has been ever present in our story of survival. We have learned that God has reason for everything. Sometimes he just brings us closer to him to realise we are his children, the sheep of his pasture (Psalm 100:3-4).
When you think of Jesus’ sacrifice what does it bring to mind?
What do you praise God for the Sacrifice?
What will you do to bring others to Jesus?
Will you invite them to church?
