This is a word that isn’t fun or easy to read. Yet this has happened after every disaster that I know of.
It happened after Hurricane Katrina.
It happened after the Joplin Tornado.
It happened after the Moore Tornado.
It happened after Hurricane Sandy.
It happened after Hurricane Isaac.
It Happened after the Colorado Wildfires.
It happened after The Tuscaloosa Tornado.
Let me just say this. It happens anytime there is a disaster. It has touched my family in a way. We had a turkey roaster and it was there that night but then it wasn’t there after we had salvaged. We have been touched by looters ourselves. In fact I do know of one story where a policeman I know from this area saw a looter in the old Joplin High School.
This building was declared unsafe, but looters were still out and about.
Yet we as christians know that looting is stealing breaking the commandment of the 10 commandments of stealing.
Here is a few Scripture References:
19 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
One is from the Old Testament — after the giving of the law and the second one is from the new testament where Christ is telling us not to store treasures on earth where rust, moths destroy and thieves steal.
Jesus is also telling us we need to store up treasures in heaven. Heaven is where we store our treasures from Christ. Our faith. Our love from him, that we give to others.
Remember that as we continue our Walk with Christ we need to store up our treasures in heaven
and not here on this earth. Because things on this earth will not make it when we arrive in Heaven. Everything we do here on earth will be placed in the fire, and whatever is of this earth, will be destroyed but what we have stored in heaven will be like refined gold and silver.
Remember those who have lost things to looter because it was a disaster. This is not easy for a survivor or anything. It isn’t easy for anyone.
Life for a survivor is hard enough as is. Let us not make things worse.
